I am respected as an international holistic educator who has taught in Switzerland, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand and Holland. I have been married to Michael J. Shea, Ph.D. since 1990. I love to swim in the ocean like a mermaid. My greatest learning relates to my own journey when I found out that all of my health issues related directly to the heavy metal poisoning from dental amalgams in my mouth.
I have studied natural healing all of my life. When I met my husband, Michael J. Shea, Ph.D., I had just finished my first series of colon hydrotherapy treatments (colonics). As we sat at dinner on our first date, I was amazed to find out that he was both a massage and colon hydrotherapist. I began to travel and study with him in 1990 after we were married. It became clear to me that my career in real estate was coming to an end as I was entering into my practice of helping people heal themselves. Michael encouraged me to begin teaching and after assisting him at numerous courses around the world, I felt ready.
In 1994 I invited 6 of my best friends to take my first colon hydrotherapy course and it was such fun! We laughed and learned together. I was delighted at this new direction in my life. It felt like I had answered a deep calling and now my work became my spiritual practice. I was one of the first instructors recognized by the International Association for Colon Therapy (I-ACT). I have personally taught people from 32 different countries. What an honor to be a part of such a global family of dedicated healers!
I proudly earned my state license in 1992. Florida is the only state that licenses colon hydrotherapy under the Board of Massage. I am Nationally Board Certified as well as an I-ACT Certified Instructor of Colon Hydrotherapy since 1994. I hold certification in craniosacral therapy, reflexology, manual lymphatic drainage and Biological Medicine.
I am considered a global expert who speaks about my specialties at international conferences.
I was a featured speaker at the Italian Society for Colon Hydrotherapy in Bologna, Italy in October 2014. I joined several medical doctors who include colon hydrotherapy in their private practices and in several hospitals. They are documenting the success of colon hydrotherapy as preparation for colonoscopy and as a valuable adjunct to other gastroenterological procedures.
In 2016, I was a keynote speaker at the Inaugural Conference of the Spanish Colon Hydrotherapy Association. I presented recent research on Stress and the Digestive System. Michael was also on the dais and fascinated the audience with his research regarding the Embryological Development of the Digestive System.
As colon hydrotherapy becomes valued in all health care settings, I have created a vision board that shows this connection. I was invited to speak to the Inaugural Conference for the Australian Colon Hydrotherapy Association. Bringing forth this vision as a way to inspire my colleagues around the world has opened a new conversation about the benefits of colon hydrotherapy.
Michael J. Shea, Ph.D., Curriculum Developer, and he provides our student handbook with current scientific research findings. His gift is to read complex scientific words and distill them into a language anyone can understand.
