I have studied natural healing all of my life. As one of 10 children, our family life revolved around loving care. I remember receiving an enema from my Mother whenever I felt a fever coming on or had a bellyache. We did not have the luxury of running to a medical doctor since my Mother didn't drive a car. I can still remember the use of home remedies like apple cider vinegar and herbs from my Grandfather's garden. We never had access to antibiotics or other drugs and now I can see the blessing in that good fortune. Our immunity grew strong as we rested and enjoyed my Grandmother's good soups. When I met my husband, Michael J. Shea, Ph.D., I had just finished my first series of colon hydrotherapy treatments. As we sat at dinner on our first date, I was amazed to find out that he was both a massage and colon hydrotherapist. I began to travel and study with him in 1990 after we were married. It became clear to me that my career in real estate was coming to an end as I was entering into my practice of helping people heal themselves. I then became licensed by the Department of Health Division of Quality Medical Assurance in Florida in 1992 and began a full-time practice of colon hydrotherapy. Michael encouraged me to begin teaching and after assisting him at numerous courses around the world, it was a natural transition.
In 1994 I invited 6 of my best friends to take my first colon hydrotherapy course and it was such fun! We laughed and learned together. I was delighted at this new direction in my life. It felt like I had answered a deep calling and now my work became my spiritual practice. I was one of the first instructors recognized by the International Association for Colon Therapy (I-ACT). We now have over 2,800 members in 30 countries. I have personally taught people from 13 different countries. What an honor to be a part of such a global family!

Jeannette has been a holistic health professional for over 17 years. In her twenties she lived and worked with a service community, the PeaceWeavers where she cooked for private clients, retreats and PeaceWeaver events. Through her work with the PeaceWeavers, Jeannette cared for an old Buddhist monk, Bhante Dharmawara, who shared stories from his life of traveling the world and being of service. He had a close relationship with Prime Minister Nehru and worked with Mahatma Gandhi. He lead “green light” meditation, silent retreats and was passionate about supporting people in making healthy choices. Bhante insisted colon cleansing was essential for vital health and longevity, he would often say “cluttered colon, cluttered mind” and “if your digestive system does not work properly … how can you expect your body to work properly?!”
